Bursting forth from the celestial realm of his widely praised opus, “Space Heavy,” King Krule graces the mortal realm once more with an awe-inspiring visual tale for the album’s inaugural anthem, “Flimsier.” Crafted by the visionary director and filmmaker Anna Pollack (renowned for her works in the realms of LOLAHOL and Tobias), this mesmerizing video unveils a sacred tapestry woven from exclusive audio and visual fragments extracted from King Krule’s legendary SHHHH Tour performance, held at the illustrious Stephen Talkhouse in the ethereal enclave of Amagansett, New York. Prepare to embark on an otherworldly journey, where music and imagery entwine to transcend the boundaries of ordinary existence.
“Flimsier” is the third video to be revealed from Space Heavy, following the acclaimed singles “Seaforth” and “If Only It Was Warmth.” To celebrate its release, King Krule has released a limited edition green LP of his new album, Space Heavy, which is available to buy now at https://kingkrule.ffm.to/greenvinyl. Space Heavy was released on Friday, 9 June, via Matador Records to critical acclaim, with The Times describing it as “fascinating, disturbing and seductive,” MOJO exclaiming “another mesmerising, profound, excellent record” and Clash “a dynamic, visceral body of work, every bar demanding attention with its chronic shapeshifting nature.” The 15-track full-length inhabits the deepest reaches of the subterranean sonic world that Archy has constructed over the course of his career as King Krule. Written on commutes between London and Liverpool, between 2020 – 2022, where Archy Marshall was splitting his time, he found himself fascinated by the notion of “the space between”; the space haunted by dreams of love, lost connection, losing people and situations to the guillotine of the universe. Once written by Archy, the music was developed by frequent collaborator Dilip Harris and long-time band mates Ignacio Salvadores (Saxophonist), George Bass (Drummer), James Wilson (Bass Guitarist) and Jack Towell (Guitarist). The result sees King Krule stepping into the height of their artistic powers; using his years of experience to create a dynamic body of work that reveals something new with every listen.
