DUA LIPA’S SERVICE95 BOOK CLUB ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER BOOK OF THE MONTH: JUST KIDS BY PATTI SMITH

Today, Dua Lipa announced the Service95 Book Club’s September Book of the Month, Just Kids by Patti Smith. The Book Club will publish curated content all month on service95.com and across socials. You can follow Service95 on socials @service95 and YouTube to get the latest, and subscribe to the newsletter here to stay in the loop on upcoming books of the month.

Just Kids, Patti’s critically acclaimed memoir, is her candid account of New York City in the 1970s, documenting her friendship and romance with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe as they navigate the art world together. As Dua says, “It’s hard to define Patti – she is a singer, a songwriter, a poet, a painter and, of course, an author. It’s safe to say that we get something of all of these personas through this beautiful book.” Published in 2010, the novel was lauded by publications such as The New York Times and Publishers Weekly, and won the 2010 National Book Award for Nonfiction.

As with all Book Club selections, the Service95 Book Club Discussion Guide will go live on the 1st of the month, providing thought-provoking questions and other insights on Just Kids. Book Club followers can watch Dua and Patti in conversation about Patti’s life experiences and creative process, and Patti will also share two exclusive readings along with a playlist and a compilation of her must-reads.

The Book Club is the latest offering from Dua’s Service95 platform, which also consists of the At Your Service podcast and the flagship Service95 newsletter, recently praised by The Guardian as “Some of the most thought-provoking short-form cultural writing you can find.” The podcast has been lauded in publications including The Sunday TimesVogueand Vulture and was named one of the Best Podcasts of 2022 by Spotify who said, “Dua is an incredibly thoughtful interviewer with a genuine interest in people, social movements, and the arts.”
