Call Her King – Premieres on BET+ This July

On July 6, BET+ is set to premiere the highly anticipated original feature “Call Her King,” featuring Naturi Naughton from “Power Book II: Ghost” and Lance Gross from “House of Payne.” Directed by Wes Miller, known for “A Day to Die,” this thrilling film follows the story of Judge Jaeda King, portrayed by Naughton. After sentencing Sean Samuels (played by Jason Mitchell) to death, chaos ensues when the courthouse is hijacked by Samuels’ brother, Gabriel, also known as Black Caesar, portrayed by Lance Gross.

As the situation intensifies, Judge King must rely on her intelligence, strength, and expertise to find a way to resolve the standoff, rescue the hostages, and fight her way out. The film showcases the Judge’s determination and resilience in the face of extreme adversity.

Joining the talented cast are Johnny Messner from “A Day to Die,” Nicholas Turturro from “NYPD Blue,” Tobias Truvillion from “First Wives Club,” Garrett Hendricks from “FBI,” and Shiobann Amisial from “Bel-Air.” This production marks the first collaboration under Andrew van den Houten and Wes Miller’s newly formed BLacklight Entertainment banner. BLacklight Entertainment is dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for people of color and other historically marginalized individuals in both on-screen and off-screen roles. van den Houten and Miller have produced this film as part of their mission to deliver high-quality content while fostering inclusivity in the industry.
